The Morocco of the twentieth-first-century is a country with a number of possibilities and opportunities. The commercial opportunities are linked to the needs of a country where the authorities are promoting a wider diversification of the economy, encouraging the development of industry and services. The geographical proximity allows a better advantage in regards of the market niches, on the one hand, in sectors with a traditional relevance in the local economy, such as textiles, agriculture, fishing, agri-food and mining, that generate needs of materials, machinery, and equipments. On the other hand, the modernisation and development process in Morocco open as well big opportunities for export in sectors such as energy, tourism, construction, infrastructures, telecommunications, public services, transportation, and commercial distribution . In the Emergence Plan, launched by the Ministry of Tourism in 2006, were identified 8 industrial sectors, with priority to act as engined of the local economy: offshoring, automotive, aeronautics, electronics, agri-food, fishing, textile and crafts. With these, they must be added two sectors with a big development in the last years: tourism, and construction . Likewise, it can be considered the gradual dismantling of customs for importing equipments, a result of the Association Agreement with the EU, and the simplification of the commercial regime, to increase our exports. On the other hand, this modernisation process of the Moroccan economy, already started, is being imprinted in a high number of tenders and public bids, and many projects are waiting for be launched, consisting in the development of important infrastructure works, many of them associated with the multilateral funding or from third countries. Actually, the fact that Morocco is an important target for many of the International Financial Institutions and EU financial programs, originates important business opportunities. |
